Who's still human on the internet?
Fíor helps you tell whether what you're reading was written by a person or generated by AI, with a free browser extension for news articles and an online playground for any text.
Where it comes from
More and more of what we read online is generated by AI, and it is getting harder to tell. That matters most in the news, where we rely on people who were there, who checked the facts and who chose their words because they meant them.
Fíor started from one question: who is still human on the internet? It gives you a quick way to check, on the article you are reading, whether the text reads as written by a person or by a machine.
The name
Fíor is the Irish word for true. It's pronounced a little like the English word "fear".
Why we're building it
- The news matters We rely on journalists who were there, who checked the facts and who chose their words because they meant them. As more of what we read is generated, readers deserve to know which is which.
- Not against AI AI is useful and it's here to stay. Fíor isn't against AI. It's for knowing who is talking to you.
- A quick check for every reader Fíor is made for everyday readers: one click on the article in front of you, or a quick paste into the online playground, and you have an answer.
What we stand by
A few rules that shape how Fíor is built.
An indication, not a verdict
Results come from a machine-learning model. We show how sure it is, and say so when it isn't.
Only when you ask
The extension reads a page only when you press Run. It never watches your browsing.
Careful with people's work
Fíor would rather miss some AI text than wrongly say a person's writing is AI.
Your data stays yours
We don't sell data. Delete your account and your history goes with it.
