Using Fíor
A free browser extension for Chrome, Edge and Firefox. Open an article, press Run, and it tells you whether the text reads as written by a person or generated by AI, and how likely each is.
Yes. Fíor is a free browser extension.
Enter your email in the extension and we send you a 6-digit code. Type it in and you're done. There's no password, and your account is created the first time you sign in.
Tabs that were already open when you installed Fíor need a refresh first. Fíor also needs a few paragraphs of article text: on a home page or a very short page you'll see "Not enough content".
Yes. Sign in on getfior.com and open the Playground tab on your dashboard. Paste between 300 and 1,000 characters and press Check text.
On your dashboard at getfior.com. Open the Account menu in the extension and choose View my results to go straight there, already signed in.
Results
It does well on the kind of news text it was trained on, but no AI detector is perfect and real pages are messier than any test. Treat a result as a strong hint, not proof. How it works explains where it is weaker.
The model leans one way but isn't sure. Read it as "can't tell".
When the model is very sure which family of AI the text resembles, it names it, for example GPT, LLaMA or Mistral. It means the writing style is similar, not that we know which tool was used.
No. Fíor is built for news articles. No AI detector is reliable enough to judge a person's work on its own, and a wrong result can do real harm.
It was trained on English news, so English articles give the most reliable results.
Press Report result in the extension. Reports help us find where the model goes wrong.
Privacy and your account
No. It reads a page only when you press Run. Then it sends the page address, its title and the first 1,000 or so characters of the article to Fíor to be scored. Pages you never check are never read.
No. The details are in the privacy policy.
Sign in on getfior.com, open Account, then Settings, and choose Delete account. Your history is deleted with it.
Sign in and choose Contact us in the menu. We reply to the email address on your account.
